Yagna Acharya is a compound of yagna “sacrificial ritual” or “ritual offering,” and Acharya “teacher” or “preceptor.” In Hindu/Vedic contexts, it denotes a priestly expert or master who presides over and instructs in the performance of Vedic fire‐sacrifice ceremonies.
Yagna refers to the ancient Vedic ritual of offerings into the sacred fire (Agni), often accompanied by chanting of mantras, understood as an act of worship, prayer, or offering.
Acharya is a title for a religious teacher or guide, literally “one who teaches proper conduct”.
Thus Yagna Acharya literally means “teacher/master of sacrifices,” a designation given to those exceptionally skilled in conducting and explaining the Vedic sacrificial rites.
For the London Soma Yagna, we are blessed and honoured that Goswami Shri Vrajotsavji Maharajshri has agreed to be the Yagna Acharya.

Guiding the intention and purpose of the Soma Yagna, emphasising collective wellbeing, balance, and devotion rather than personal gain
Safeguarding the sanctity of the ritual, ensuring it is approached with humility, discipline, and reverence
Supporting the Ritviks and organisers, offering counsel rooted in tradition and lived spiritual experience
His presence helps anchor the Soma Yagna not merely as a ceremonial event, but as a meaningful spiritual offering undertaken for the benefit of the wider community.
Spiritual perspective
Goswami Vrajotsavji emphasises that a Soma Yagna is not only a complex Vedic ritual, but also a shared spiritual journey. He consistently highlights that its deeper purpose lies in cultivating:
Inner steadiness and clarity
Gratitude and surrender
Respect for tradition and lineage
A sense of shared responsibility for harmony within society
This approach makes the Soma Yagna accessible and meaningful even for those who may be attending for the first time or from outside traditional ritual settings
Engagement with the wider community
Known for his calm, thoughtful communication style, Goswami Vrajotsavji engages with devotees, families, and younger generations in a way that bridges ancient wisdom and modern life. His involvement in major Yagnas, especially outside India, reflects a commitment to ensuring that rare Vedic traditions are preserved with integrity while remaining inclusive and relevant in today’s global context.
