Yagna Acharya for London Soma Yagna

Yagna Acharya is a compound of yagna “sacrificial ritual” or “ritual offering,” and Acharya “teacher” or “preceptor.” In Hindu/Vedic contexts, it denotes a priestly expert or master who presides over and instructs in the performance of Vedic fire‐sacrifice ceremonies.

Yagna refers to the ancient Vedic ritual of offerings into the sacred fire (Agni), often accompanied by chanting of mantras, understood as an act of worship, prayer, or offering.

Acharya is a title for a religious teacher or guide, literally “one who teaches proper conduct”.

Thus Yagna Acharya literally means “teacher/master of sacrifices,” a designation given to those exceptionally skilled in conducting and explaining the Vedic sacrificial rites.

For the London Soma Yagna, we are blessed and honoured that Goswami Shri Vrajotsavji Maharajshri has agreed to be the Yagna Acharya.
